Kay Bailey Hutchison: Bail-Out for the Banks but NO Unemployment Benefits Extension?

I wrote Sen. Hutchison (hopefully the next Governor of Texas) on the Bail-Out and the Senate refusing to even bring to floor the Unemployment Benefit Extension / Jobless Bill the House passed 368-28!

She wrote back. My preface, her letter, and my comments.

If there's a Lame Duck session of Congress, as hinted at today, the jobless need to act NOW.

And so does the Senate: how DARE they block it from even coming to the floor! Were some Senators just too tired after a hard day at the office to look at one more bill........before going on Vacation!

FINALLY: A Reason to Vote for President in November!

McCain or Obama: two second rate want-to-be's for President whose biggest challenge will be giving the American public a reason to get out of bed and go vote in November.....until now.

I will be voting for John McCain for President, regardless of whatever stupid things he says or does between now and the election for one reason and one reason only: The Supreme Court.

It is likely at least one Supreme Court Justice will be stepping down during the next administration. As the 5-4 decision by the Supreme Court on the challenge to Washington DC's anti-Second Amendment laws shows, the Court is fairly balanced with a slight lean to the right.

Since the Justices most likely to resign are liberal, a President Obama would nominate liberals to replace them so at worst case, we maintain the status quo....unless he nominates HILLARY!! But even if he did, I'm not so sure she would be confirmed. Still, not worth the risk.

If McCain is elected, it's a whole different ballgame.

While I doubt a President McCain would actually stand up, nominate, and fight for hard-right conservatives, he certainly would nominate conservatives of some ilk. And that will be very significant going forward.

Perhaps we can get everything the incredibly liberal 5th Circuit overturns reinstated. Maybe we could get the 1977 Supreme Court Decision rendering unconstitutional a (in this case) Texas law that illegal alien children would not be educated at public expense overturned!

That would certainly go a long way in lowering Texans ridiculously high school taxes. Dare I hope for more? That Oklahoma and others laws highly penalizing employers for hiring illegal aliens will be swiftly heard and upheld?

Or, I'm almost afraid to put this in writing, but could a law be passed banning "birthright" citizenship and upheld by the Court? No more border babies. A child born in the United States would be a citizen of the country that both their parents are; not automatic US citizens as is the case today.

Obama Signs his Soul over to Hillary in Secret Meeting!!!!

Entering the Washington home of Sen. Dianne Feinstein, Barack Obama, bursting with arrogant confidence just moments before, suddenly felt uneasy.

Sen. Feinstein welcomed him and his aids at the door and was talking pleasantries as they walked to the hallway toward her sitting room, the only thing he remember hearing was that Hillary was already here and waiting for him. She walked him into the sitting room, chatted for a second with Hillary, and then excused herself.

The room was eerily quiet. As Hillary dismissed both their representatives from the room, a icy chill ran down Barack's body. With the click of the door closing, a cold sweat began to break out on his forehead.

"Well Barack, how badly do you want to be President?" Hillary asked in an almost threatening way.

Obama turned and gasped in horror! Sitting at the table was Hillary Clinton; but she looked different. Her eyes were neon red, her skin a burnt orange, and a pair of wings and a tail had burst through her pants suit!

"Satan!" Obama blurted out!

"Well Barack, how badly do you want to be President?" Hillary repeated, her tail swinging back and forth like a metronome.

Obama paused, his eyes narrowing, and smiled. Hillary smiled back with a mouthful of fangs. "A lot." he replied as he sat down opposite her.

She reeked of death, decay, and flatulence; he barely noticed. After all, he was a politician too. The odor reminded him of.....the Senate. He began to relax as the horrid stench comforted him with it's familiarity. He reached down into his right sock and pulled out a pack of cigarettes.

"I'm not very pleased that you beat me!" Hillary hissed, her wings unfurling slightly, "But it is what it is." She sat back. "You need my support to beat McCain, you know that don't you?"

Obama took in a deep lungful of smoke and laughed. "Too much of your support will drive the lilly white housewives right into McCain's camp and you pissed off Charlie Rangel already. I need your heartfelt concession; your delegates, and for you to back off. I'll take care of the old fart myself." he replied confidently.

"Really", Hillary smirked, "and how are you going to deal with the October release of the Fox News video on YouTube video showing your racist wife Michelle on-stage with Louis Farrakhan lambasting Caucasian America with the term "whitey?"

Obama froze. "That video doesn't exist anymore!" Hillary just smiled. "I'm telling you that video does not exist!" he replied angrily.

Hillary smiled again, and reached into a $3000 purse a supporter had slipped to her and removed a DVD. Wings flapping, she floated over to Feinstein's entertainment center, slipped the DVD into the player and turned on the flat screen TV. "Surprise!"

Obama stared and listened in amazement for what seemed to be an eternity. When Hillary stopped the DVD and removed it, he visibly flinched. "Where the hell did you get that from?" he asked in almost a whisper.

Hillary laughed. "Where the HELL indeed!" Moving quickly, she towered over the slumping Obama. "You have NO IDEA of the POWER at my disposal" she lashed out. "If it wasn't for my idiot husband and his stupid remarks during the campaign, we wouldn't even be having this conversation!"

She floated back over to her chair. Suddenly, she was all business. " You said you wanted to be President 'a lot'. Well, without something in it for me, that's not going to happen."

Her eyes narrowed. "I have an AGENDA. I've had it for 40 years! I've planned carefully. If it wasn't for me, Bill would have been a successful Real Estate Agent in Arkansas, screwing every waitress and secretary in the State when he wasn't playing golf or selling real estate."

"I PUSHED him into being Governor. I PUSHED him into the Presidency. With all his screwing around and baggage, did you ever wonder HOW he was not only elected President, but RE-ELECTED? Who do you think stopped the Senate from impeaching him? ME! I Will Not Be Stopped by ANYONE.......including YOU!

Obama pushed back in his chair, wishing this was just some horrible nightmare but it wasn't. He HAD to be President....the FIRST Black President. That was HIS destiny....he knew it. But know he also knew he would have to sell his soul to get there.

He pulled another cigarette out of his sock. Lighting it, he said calmly "What do you propose?"

Hillary smiled evilly, "We will leave this meeting laughing and joking.. We will both say it was a good first meeting to heal the wounds of a grueling primary. You will say that your three person Vice President selection team would keep on with their work. You felt no rush to make a decision; to the contrary, you want to take your time and make the BEST POSSIBLE decision."

"You'll keep them guessing right up until the Convention. I, on the other hand, will indicate my willingness to do whatever it takes to put you in the White House." she laughed again, "and when they ask me if I would campaign to be the Vice President, I would say 'No, not at all! If Senator Obama feels I can serve him and the country best in that capacity, I would acquiesce to his wishes. But I'm just planning on campaigning as hard as I can for him to be our next President." By now, she was laughing so hard her face had become as red as her eyes.

"The press will be crying 'Dream Team, Dream Team'.....I'll make sure of that. And then at the convention, you'll turn on that Obama charm you're famous for, you'll explain how important it was that you chose the right running mate. How you interviewed dozens of candidates; and you will have. A waste of your time, but necessary."

"But in the end, shining as bright as the sun on Jerusalem, there was only ONE CLEAR CHOICE. Then you'll give that boyish JFK grin and say "'Hillary, will you be my Vice President?'"

Hillary flew out of her chair, barely missing the ceiling. "Can you IMAGINE the response??? The place will go WILD! Everyone will start chanting 'Dream Team, Dream Team'! Delegates will reach under their seats and be pulling out Dream Team t-shirts and Obama/Clinton 2008 buttons!.....I'll arrange for that." She floated back to the floor. "And you will be the next President of the United States. Interested?"

Obama crushed out his cigarette on the table. "And what's in it for you? I'm not going to be a cardboard cut-out with you calling all the shots. VP's go to funerals and visit our allies. I will be making the policy. I have an agenda too!"

Hillary settle back in her chair, reached into her purse, and pulled out a parchment and a small knife. "Funerals. Yes, I will be certainly going to at least one."

"Here's the deal: I get you elected. I'll give you your time in the sun with your "agenda". I'll be doing some things behind the scenes but I will also do what is necessary to ensure your agenda gets through Congress. You will be the most popular President since JFK. You'll be a hero and an inspiration to both blacks and whites. And you will be re-elected in a landslide, with me as your running mate, of course."

Obama smiled for a few minutes, his eyes glazed over imagining the future. Then he blinked hard and looked Hillary dead in her red neon eyes. "You didn't answer my question. What's in it for YOU?"

She was quiet for a moment; then replied "You will have 7 years as President....a President that will be remember as one, if not, the greatest President who ever served."

Obama frowned "Seven years? But two terms would run 8 years." Hillary smiled again. "You said it yourself, Vice Presidents go to funerals."

And then he understood.

"In your 7th year in office, you will be assassinated....by whom or why you don't need to know, save that it's part of MY agenda. The entire country, every race, creed, color, and political party will mourn your passing like no one has been mourned before.

You won't just be the greatest President who ever lived; your death, which will be heroic, will make you a martyr for all of time. An entire generation of boys will be named Barack. Statues will be erected. Buildings by the thousands named after you. A thousand years from now, people will still know and revere you. Your diary....start one tomorrow....will be more popular than the Bible. Your biography will be required reading in school. You will be legendary!"

More silence. Then Obama said "and you will be President for nine years.....knowing you, maybe longer."

Hillary nodded and smiled, adding "and look at all the other ex-Presidents: do you want to play golf and whore around for 20 or 30 years after you leave office; giving speeches at rubber chicken dinners to support yourself? And put up with that embarrassment of a wife you have? Or do you want to be LEGENDARY!"

"You would eclipse Dr. King! You would eclipse EVERYONE! Isn't that worth it? Seven years and then immortality?"

Obama pulled another cigarette from his sock and paced the room, smoking and thinking. He turned to Hillary. "and for those 7 years, I would TRULY be the President? I would be making the decisions? It would be MY White House?"

Hillary stood up. "Absolutely. Oh, I have I few little things I'd like to see put in place before your 7 years are up, but you will be the President and it will be your White House and your legacy I will have to live up to." She covered her mouth with a pretend cough to hide her grin. "You have my word of honor."

Walking to the table, she picked up the parchment and held it up. "It's all in writing. All you have to do is sign it....Mr. President."

He glanced at the knife, then back at Hillary. "Yes, Barack, in blood."

From Reuters, June 6, 2008: Clinton and Obama held a private one-on-one meeting on Thursday night at the Washington home of Sen. Dianne Feinstein. The California Democrat said the two candidates chatted privately for about an hour and were laughing as they left.

And so it came to pass on that warm June evening,the beginning of the end of the world had begun..........................

Hillary apparently facing reality so it's Obama versus McCain? Great.

Compared to my other Blog, The Unloading Zone, my posts here have been pretty sparse. If someone told me this would happen when I started Anyone But Hillary in 2008!, I would

Politics at the National level primarily and at the State level to a lesser degree have fascinated me since I was a teenager (a LONG time ago). I think I've mentioned in previous posts that at 13, I was at the 1972 Republican Convention handing out 'Re-Elect Nixon" buttons and materials.

I lived through the Carter administration where he finally went on TV and blamed the American Public for the "malaise" the Country was experiencing.

I rode the highs of the Reagan years, saw my dream come true in the 90's when the Republicans took both houses of Congress for the first time in decades....and had my dreams crushed with as the minority Democrat party systematically destroyed the Gingrich Revolution....because the Republicans had been in the minority so long they forgot how to Lead Congress.

And then we elected George W. Bush to eight years. I voted for him both times only because I thought the Democrat alternative was worse

The Republican scandals in Congress continued. Now were a half trillion dollars in debt and growing, the dollar is becoming worthless, we're involved in a war we had no justification to start in the first place.

Then came the 2008 Primaries which started too early in 2007. And with it, the biggest crop of losers I can remember seeing, from BOTH sides of the isle, running for President....with a tightly controlled mainstream media universally and simultaneously deciding who to cover, who to marginalize, we apparently have our two contenders right in the nick of time: Barack Obama and John McCain. Wow.

In this ENTIRE Country, the Democrats and Republicans couldn't do any better then that?

I did start getting excited by one candidate. At least Ron Paul had a few good ideas and the Congress could have stopped anything too extreme he proposed. But ending Pax America, closing all our overseas bases and bringing all the troops home: THAT was a good idea.

The Cold War is over and the proxy wars we and the Soviet Union fought through other countries prevented a direct and likely nuclear confrontation between the two of us. But that time is past. The Soviet Union is dead.

Let the rest of the world fight it's own battles: WE ARE BROKE and it's no longer in our interests to have a world-wide military presence. In fact, it's hurting us more than helping us.

That would save America 1 trillion dollars a year: enough to pay off the deficit AND eliminate the Federal Income Tax......forever. And as Commander in Chief and a strict Constitutionalist, I think Dr. Paul could have pulled that off and the Supreme Court would have backed him up.

But despite the greatest grass roots political movement in US History, the mainstream press, working in concert, were able to get him labeled a wacko and marginalize him.

They were helped by his own Presidential Campaign Team which never took advantage of the grass roots support and Ron Paul himself, who in the end, seemed more interested in getting re-elected to Congress and keeping those ear-marks going to his congressional district.

And when that happened, I lost pretty much all interest in the primaries; thus my lack of enthusiastic posting on this Blog.

For the FIRST time in my life, I actually got involved in LOCAL politics. We had Good vs Evil in the Mayors race. Good won (I worked for his campaign). Of the two Council Member seats up for grabs (each with four contenders each), one candidate stood head and shoulders above the rest and won easily.

The second went to a run-off where the candidate I voted and campaigned for in the first election turned out to me MUCH less appealing after some due diligence. His opponent I'm not terribly excited about, but I voted and supported him for the run-off more because I didn't want his opponent to win than by my enthusiasm for him.

Mrs. Unloadingzone and I early voted: the actual election isn't until June 10th. We'll see what happens. The important thing for my home city is that the BEST BY 1000 MILES candidate won the Mayoral contest.

And this local run-off election for a City Council seat: that's what the Presidential Election is going to come down to for me: everything considered, who is the lesser of two really mediocre if not outright bad choices.

John McCain I've never been a fan of. In the Senate and even during the primaries, he's been all over the board on a host of issues and has never, compared to his contemporaries over the years, shown the leadership and steadfastness to be President. And I still remember the Keating Five.

Barack Obama, I initially gave the benefit of the doubt to. He was against Iraq, voted against it, period. No double talking. And after Hillary's (and many others who followed her lead) constant refrain of "I was for the war then, but now I'm against it because.........", Obama came off as at least genuine.

He was a huge unknown beyond that, but he kind of had that JFK appeal and if elected, he would either rise to occasion or not. But it looked like he had POTENTIAL. Until his dirty laundry started coming out. One day a Flag pin, the next no Flag pin.....then the Flag pin again. And what smoker/former smoker actually believes he quit cold turkey in one day and has NEVER had a cigarette again?

The whole thing with his Pastor's/Friend racist remarks: first he kind of defended the Pastor, not the remarks but in the end (and much too late) denounced the remarks and dumped his former lifetime friend, the Pastor.

And then the other inconsistencies I'm not going to bother repeating: after all, he's the nominee now. Why bother?

So we won the Iraqi war (like we didn't learn in the First Gulf War that the Iraqi military just turns and runs UNLESS it's a religion-based war (7 years of Iran-Iraq), and then completely blew the aftermath by firing the Iraqi bureaucracy and disbanding the Army.

And Iraq fell apart because we didn't LEARN that Islam and sect mean everything to the Iraqi's and the created State of Iraq meant nothing. That "American Democracy" was a foreign concept that we forced on them, they didn't understand, and weren't ready for.

IF we were going in to topple Saddam Hussain, (a big mistake) we could have least have learned from our own history: we needed a Douglas MacArthur to be dictator of Iraq for 7 years as we educated the Iraqi's on "American Democracy" And even that probably wouldn't have ultimately worked because in post-WWII Japan, we only had ONE deity to deal with: the Emperor.

In Iraq, we have two very distinct branches of one religion....and they HATE each other.

McCain first said we'll stay in Iraq for 100 years if necessary. Now he's back-tracking to a shorter time frame. And Obama, who said he would pull out the troops post-haste, is now being said to admit that we're going to be there for a while.

So what are either one of them actually going to do if elected President? No clue. But whatever they do; stay or leave quick, it will be the wrong decision. Because there IS no decision which allows the US to get out cleanly. Bush screwed the pooch on this one and now we're all screwed.

We have a half trillion dollar deficit but BOTH candidates are talking new programs, new spending........and America is broke going on bankrupt.

And lets not forget Hillary. She's not out of the picture by any means. She's the mainstream media's Vice Presidential pick for the "Dream Ticket".

But Obama doesn't seem to be too enthusiastic about that. But he does need her active support to beat McCain (isn't that pathetic?) So if not VP, then what? Not the cabinet. Not an ambassadorship....that's not enough for Hillary.

A promise in blood to be nominated to the first Supreme Court opening? That's something Hillary would LOVE: to have a life-time appointment as an Activist Supreme Court Justice. And it's more dangerous than ANY scenario other than her being President with a Democrat Congress. Maybe even more so.

We have our two choices: McCain and Obama. Between now and election day in November, both have some choices to make; like a running mate.

Between now and election day, they will finally be able to go at each other head to head without the Hillary distraction. I'll be listening to what both say, who both pick for VP, and see what more dirt comes out on both of them.

I'll watch the debates and see how and what they have to say. Then I will weigh all that, hold my nose, and vote for the man I hope will do the least amount of damage over the next 4 years. I have no illusion that EITHER of them will do America any good.

I don't like voting that way. I like voting for someone I support and believe in, not the lesser of two evils. But at the Presidential level, I've done it over the last four Presidential Elections. I guess I can force myself to do it one more time.

But I will vote for one of them. I will not take the cop-out approach of simply not voting. I was wrong with Bush, but who knows how the Democrat choices would have been? They could have even have been worse. Or not.

So you vote too. Forget political party: vote for who YOU think will be the lesser of two evils.

If America is going to continue it's decline into a bi-lingual, Second-rate, Superpower only by virtue of our rusting nuclear weapons, we have have the obligation to say we contributed to it.

After all, most of America has been too self-involved and too self-centered to really give a damn. And so the politicos ran amok with our blessing. Now the chickens have come home to roost...if they can get a mortgage.

John McCain and Barack Obama. Who would have thought America would sink so low?

Will Hillary Repeal the Clinton Gas Tax?

Bill Clinton raised the gas tax and no one in the press seems to remember it. Most reporters have no idea (or choose to ignore) that in his first year in office President Clinton raised the gas tax. He did it in a package of tax increases that amounted to the biggest tax increase in history, after a presidential campaign whose centerpiece was a middle class tax cut.

But it's 2008 and all this is irrelevant to the actual problem. The story below, "Will Hillary Repeal the Clinton Gas Tax"? is a good one.

But in fact, repealing the Gas Tax, be it by Hillary (God forbid), Obama, or McCain is not the solution. Prices will drop for a day or two; then the oil companies, distributors, and gasoline retails, will raise their retail price and bring us right back where we were before.

The answer is to lessen our dependence on foreign oil and both sides in this debate will have to compromise.

The environmentalists need to understand we must drill and refine more domestic oil. We don't have the luxury of worrying about polar bears or caribou out it some desolate wasteland.

At the same time, every viable option to oil including wind power, nuclear power, and solar power must be pursued with a vengeance.

And on both sides, the Federal Government, the ACLU, and the Activist Judges need to get out of the way and let this happen.

Retail gas prices will hit $4/gallon by this summer. We are in recession, the dollar is becoming worthless, and our bonds harder to sell. The deficit is huge and growing and all the Presidential candidates and our Congress just wants to spend more. This has to stop.

We are heading for a DEPRESSION, not unlike 1929. It's time to realize that, but ideology aside, and ACT NOW! It's almost too late.

The Selling Out of America: John, Hillary and Barack; Atrocious Illegal Immigration VOTING Records of ALL TOP 3 Democratic Presidential Candidates:

Marc Chamot wrote an incredible piece on the Illegal Immigration voting records of the three top Democrat candidates. We all know about Hillary's views although reading all the quotes was chilling. John Edwards bores me and it's no surprise he's pro-illegal.

But Barack Obama? Yes, he would make the occasional one sentence comment indicating he leans pro-illegals, but read the quotes by Obama in Marc's story and your hair will stand on end!

How can Black America, the group most hurt by the illegal alien invasion, even THINK of supporting Obama, let alone the other Democrat voters who are anti-illegals?

FALL-OUT FROM: Could I have been WRONG about Ron Paul

Yesterday, I wrote a little post on how I may have been wrong in dismissing and outright criticising Ron Paul as a viable Republican candidate and Presidential contender. It was entitled "Could I Have Been WRONG about Ron Paul?"

I stressed "might" and that I was just beginning to really dig into Dr. Paul's positions, but at a gut level, I just LIKED him.

I have two humble little blogs which I use as an outlet to discuss things I like, things I dislike, and to generally blow off stress. I have a lot of ads on my blogs and to date I've earned $1. I put them up more as decoration than anything else.

I never envisioned them drawing any type of mass response nor was it ever my intent. Blogging was a hobby I enjoyed and as I view the good and the bad in the world to today, it gave me some satisfaction that somewhere on Google, at least my opinions were at least present.

Much to my shock and amazement, This article receive over 7400 Page Views, over 800 "diggs" at DIGG.com, and over 232 comments at DIGG.com. This morning, I found an additional 35 comments waiting for posting on Anyone But Hillary in 2008!!!

That sets an all-time record for either of my blogs! My post was also "buried" at DIGG.com meaning more people who read it gave Ron Paul (and me) a thumbs down than the 800+ who gave it a thumbs up.

It just goes to show you what a polarizing figure Ron Paul has become and why I now find him "interesting". I'll keep looking into him and you will see more posts about him, but rest assured, I am no "shill" for Ron Paul, as some on DIGG asserted.I think my article makes that clear to all but the most thick-headed as well as the fact I have been dismissive of Ron Paul in the past. I even wrote a post "Now is NOT the time for Ron Paul" which got me criticism from the pro-Ron Paul people....but NOTHING like what I got with this post from the anti-Ron Paul crowd.

And in reading all the comments and comments to other pro-Ron Paul posts, I discovered something else. Basically two groups of people are commenting (and voting): those who support Ron Paul and those that are AFRAID of Ron Paul.

Another plus for the Ron Paul camp: fear is generally a synonym for ignorance (except when it comes to Hillary).

And thank you Ron Paul supporters for your kindness and suggestions on where to look for research. I was tempted to delete one comment that used the f-word a couple of times, but I believe in free speech, even when it makes a point in a vulgar way.

You'll see more posts from me on Dr. Paul in the future. I'm not going to agree with everything he says, but he's doing a good job of winning me over! By the way, there the heck did you come up with a blimp? I thought Blimps R Us went out of business years ago. :-)

I enjoy good, reasoned, civil conversation. I certainly got that and a lot more yesterday! And remember, vote for ANYONE (but maybe give Ron Paul a real hard look) BUT HILLARY in 2008!

Could I have been WRONG about Ron Paul?

You've probably noticed a lack of posts on this blog compared to my other blog, The Unloading Zone. It's not because I don't have the time; it's just that this campaign to date has been so lackluster, so scripted, so.......boring.

I write about what interests me and so far, very little has interested me in the 2008 Presidential Race. I anticipated a little heat after the first of the year and, after all, the election is about 11 months away. There will be plenty to write about later on. Or so I thought.

One thing I have done is been rather dismissive of Dr. Ron Paul, Republican/Libertarian from Texas. Not only on this blog, but especially in the comments section on Digg.com which these days seems nothing more than a Gen X platform for Dr. Paul.

I saw him as a latter-day Ross Perot; a spoiler who would pull enough Republican votes to hand the White House to Hillary. And I am SOLIDLY against anything or anyone who could hand her the Presidency. My plan: Texas has open primaries so I would vote (for the first time in my life) as a Democrat, pick Obama or whomever else was the strongest candidate next to Hillary, and then vote for the Republican, whomever THAT is in the general election. Holding my nose while I vote in the general election won't be enough: I planned on wearing a gas mask.

So I'm surfing the political news looking for something to write about this morning. Do I REALLY want to get into the whole "whose the best Christian" thing with Huckabee and Romney? Has Rudy gotten into ANOTHER scandal? Is Mike Huckabee's "lets isolate AIDS patients" position political suicide, a ticket to the White House, or just a pathetic bid for airtime? I'm interested......NOT. In fact, none of the Republican front-runners excite me in the least or even interest me.

On the Democrat side, Obama, despite his appeal to me as a Hillary-Killer, is really just a clone of her on Universal Healthcare and Education. Nothing exciting to talk about there. And Hillary hasn't done anything shocking enough to justify a post the past few days. And who can even remember who the other Democrats are. I guess I'll go back to my other blog where I am having some fun.

And then I noticed someone (predictably on DIGG) had posted something about a Newsweek interview video with Ron Paul on the Second Amendment. That caught my eye. I am a fervent supporter of the Constitution and the Second Amendment has been trampled on more than the other nine. I also like guns. I own guns. I carry a gun when I go out. (yes, I have a concealed handgun license). So, despite my fatigue with the Ron DIGG Paul crowd, I decided to watch the video. Then I watched the other two videos there: one on Israel and it's right to exist; the other on getting rid of the IRS. And you know what? I found myself LIKING Ron Paul!

It wasn't the positions he took, per se.....these were short videos. I liked how he handled himself. I liked the confidence in his positions he exhibited. I liked his honesty. I particularly liked the way he handled the reporter when he tried to "trap" Dr. Paul. No blustering, no double-speak. He just considered for a second and gave an answer. He could have obfuscated, he could have bobbed and weaved, but he didn't. And he's the first politician I've seen since Ronald Reagan who seemed very comfortable with himself.

Obama "quit" smoking after criticism from his handlers. If Dr. Paul smoked (I don't believe he does), he would have lit up a cigarette on camera, acknowledged the health hazards, and basically said "this is who I am". I'll say it again, I found myself LIKING Ron Paul.

But liking him and seeing him elected are too different things. I originally stopped looking at his positions too closely after I heard he wanted to abolish the IRS and reduce the size of government by 50%. This was just another Libertarian in Republican clothes, I thought. Politicians come and go but bureaucracies are forever.

I went back to Dr. Paul's website this morning and REALLY read his positions, not just the little teaser paragraphs that end with a hyperlink to "details". Do I think he's going to be able to reduce the size of government by 50%? No, the Congress and the bureaucrats won't let that happen. But I found myself agreeing with him more than I disagreed. I found his positions more plausible than the soundbites of them would indicate. And I just liked the guy!

I'm not coming out with an endorsement based on insomnia and web surfing, but I am going to read more about Ron Paul and I am going stop dumping on him as a spoiler. If he can get enough airtime and enough debate time, (I can't believe I'm going to say this) he MAY BE ELECTABLE, even against Hillary!

So as a cynical baby boomer who has had his heart broken too many times by the Republicans, I will say that I now find Dr. Paul "interesting" and plan to do a lot more research on him and his positions. Before the DIGG servers explode, let me say that I am not changing the name of my blog: Defeating Hillary Clinton is critical to the survival of America, I truly believe that. She is the antithesis of Ron Paul. Under Hillary, we would just be a client state of the United Nations.
But I like Ron Paul and I'm going to keep up on him.

And who knows, I have two spaces on my lawn I reserve for political signs. One is going to Maher Maso, who is running for Mayor of Frisco, TX (like anyone outside of Frisco cares). But the other spot doesn't have a name on it. Wouldn't it be something if a Ron Paul for President sign ended up there........

Obama at the Apollo

Mr. Obama recently made a speech at the famous Apollo Theatre in Harlem, NYC. He is a compelling speaker and it will be interesting to see him go head to head against Hillary. He had some good stuff to say. He talked about a new direction for the country, not just a change in policy (THAT was directed right at Hillary). But he also touted Universal Health Care, more money for K-12 education, more money for colleges, and more money for social programs. He even talked about some tax cuts. What he didn't talk about is where all this money is coming from.

But I'll worry about that in the general election. For the primary, right now it's between him and Hillary and you KNOW I'll vote for ANYONE but Hillary!

His speech was long on vision and short on specifics, but that was appropriate for the occasion. The video runs about 22 minutes long. If you want to see and hear him for yourself, click HERE.

Hillary, the Most Decisive, Indecisive Person on the Planet

Writing about Hillary can be so tiring. She is a caricature of a politician. She's famous for phrases like "I support the concept, but don't endorse it" I thought Bill Clinton was poll driven but Hillary takes the cake.

One the recent drivers licenses for illegal aliens in NY issue, she supported the "broad" concept of issuing these criminal invaders legitimate NY identification documents, but when the polls came back 70% opposed and NY Governor Spitzer's approval rating dropped to an all-time low, Hillary was suddenly "strongly opposed" to the issuing illegals drivers licenses.

With the exception of Universal Health care, which is a terrible idea that would bankrupt the nation and ruin our health care system, Hillary answers every single issue with an equivocal answer until the polls come in; then she takes a position.

She doesn't go as far as to say "It's because I'm a girl", but every time she is criticised by her opponents, it's never because of her stance on an issue: it's always "personal".

Last night in Los Vegas was no exception. As soon as Obama and Edwards began accusing her of flip-flopping and never taking a stand until the polls were in, Hillary struck back with charges of "personal attacks" and "talking out of the Republican playbook". Of course, when she accused Obama of not supporting Universal Health Care, leaving millions of children (she's big on dropping "children" into attacks), that wasn't personal at all.

This is a woman who says she's the only one qualified to "hit the ground running on day 1 of her Presidency". Really. She does know how to get to the Oval Office without any assistance. In fact, during Bill Clinton's Presidency, I often wondered when he was out of the country if she sneaked into the Oval Office, sat in his chair, and pretended she was President. I can see her conducting imaginary staff meetings and sit-downs with Heads of State.

Other than that, she was First Lady. She has no experience at being President and her so-called Senate experience has her flip-flopping or equivocating on so many issues, you only know two core beliefs she has: Universal Healthcare and that she should be President. That's it.

Hillary Clinton is a caricature of a politician. A joke. You would have to be deaf, dumb and blind to support her. Fifty percent of the American public said they would never vote for her under any circumstances. She's an obvious fraud who will say anything to any group at any time in an effort to get their votes. All this is documented and public. And she scares the death out of me.

Because with all this being said, she is the Democrat front runner at this point. With all the baggage, negative publicity, and an obvious lack of any qualifications whatsoever, she was able to waltz into New York, a liberal but cynical state, calming proclaim that she was now a New Yorker, and win a New York Senate seat. Wow.

All the scandals which had touched her personally: the cattle futures windfall, the missing documents which suddenly appeared in the White House bedroom, the mystery of Vince Foster, her secret Health Care commission....even where and how the Clinton's got the $5 million for the house in New York. All that didn't matter. It was all fresh in every one's mind then and she still won the Senate seat. Wow.

So until I see her lifeless head stuck on a pole and paraded through the streets by torchlight, I am unconvinced the demon is dead. Until someone else....ANYONE else, is sworn in as the 44th President of the United States, I won't count her out, won't underestimate her or overestimate the voting acumen of the American public. Hillary has secret powers at her disposal. The witch is not dead.

Why Stop with Driver's Licenses for Illegals, Hillary?

Hillary Clinton, after stumbling through the last Democratic Debate, has put her foot in it again. To quote Hillary, "I broadly support what Governors like Elliot Spitzer are trying to do" regarding giving Driver's Licenses to Illegal Aliens.

What about auto insurance Hillary? Most illegals can't afford it, especially in your "home" state of New York. Should the state give them insurance too or do you "broadly support" allowing illegals to drive without insurance? You could just raise taxes on American Citizens to pay for it or allow the insurance companies to double their rates.

Why stop with Drivers Licenses, Hillary? Why not "broadly support" giving them passports too? And how about voter registration cards?

And this is supposed to be the smartest woman in America?????

What does "broadly support" mean, anyway? Does that mean that all illegal aliens should get drivers licenses or that she only supports the "concept" of illegals getting drivers licenses? What would "narrowly support" mean? Doesn't it all boil down to the same thing: Hillary Clinton Supports Giving Drivers Licenses to Illegal Aliens?

Why doesn't Hillary "broadly support" giving illegal aliens one-way plane fare back to their own countries? Why, in her 8 years in the Senate, has she never given more than lip service to fighting illegal immigration?

What Hillary Clinton is demonstrating is that she is an ivory-tower policy wonk totally out of touch with the American people. That doesn't bother HER, because, if elected President, it's what HILLARY WANTS, not what the American people want or even what's best for America.

She has a plan for this country and she's going to implement it regardless of what anyone thinks....that's if she can keep her foot out of her mouth long enough. And if the American people are patient enough to tolerate all her flip-flops, policy changes, do what I say, not what I do, and "lets stop all this election nonsense and just make me President, already!" attitude.

Hillary is still dangerous, but of late she is demonstrating she is not quite as bright as she thought when it comes to being "the Candidate". She's realizing that it was easier to pull Bill Clinton's strings than it is to be out front and center. It's really hard when the camera's are rolling and you get hit with tough questions, isn't it Hillary?

Now if only the Republicans can come up with a credible candidate to beat her (Ron Paul need not apply) and/or Mr. Obama can get his act together (that Saturday Night Live stunt was a good first step), then we could finally relegate Hillary to the Ted Kennedy Club. There she could spend the rest of her working life in the Senate, enjoy all the privileges that come with it, and basically be a non-factor for the rest of her life in our lives. We should be so lucky.

So Ron Paul got a mention on MSNBC. Yada, Yada, Yada

Ron Paul supporters are ecstatic that he actually got mentioned on MSNBC. I find the following quote ironic:

"Joe Trippi, a 25-year veteran of Iowa caucus politics who served as Howard Dean’s campaign manager in 2003 and who’s now a top aide to Edwards, said, “From what I see, Ron Paul is doing much better than his better-known opponents think he is doing. He is at that stage of the Dean campaign when all the other campaigns are laughing at him and have no idea of how strong he really is.”

We all remember how Howard Dean's run for the White House ended up. While I am confident that Dr. Paul is much more mentally stable than Howard Dean, I'm equally as confident that he will be, at best, a footnote to the 2008 Presidential Election, or at worst, the spoiler who siphons off enough conservative votes to put Hillary Clinton into the White House.

It's not the Dr. Paul's policy statements are necessarily wrong. They are just naive. He may say what a lot of people are thinking, but a lot of that is wishful thinking. I agree 100% with Dr. Paul on the income tax issue, for example. But in the real world of Washington, no Congress; Democrat or Republican, is going to support his plan. And since the President is not a dictator and Congress writes the laws, it's a no-starter. As for "the people" forcing their elected representatives to follow a Paul agenda, we can't even get Congress to enforce, let alone enhance, the existing laws on illegal immigration. And polls show a majority of the American public are anti-illegal immigration!

Most of Dr Paul's supporters are young, idealistic college students. And the truth is, as much as they rally and cheer, they just don't vote.

The rest of America has had it's idealism burned out of it by Bill Clinton and his scandals, Newt and his "revolution" that went no where, and the Republicans who demonstrated that, once in the majority, they are as corrupt morally, sexually, and as full of hot air as the Democrats ever were. We conservatives thought we had finally won in the 1990's and instead were left with dust in our mouths. And as weak a President as Bill Clinton was, George W. Bush has proven to be a loose cannon with policies impossible to justify; who, like the Captain of the Titanic, refuses to change course or even slow down.

The only thing that has mattered in Washington for the last 30 years was who had enough power to stack the courts with activist judges to their liking. These judges, especially the 5th Circuit, routinely make up there own laws and impose injunctions against laws passed by the will of the people. Again, illegal immigration is a prime example.

We, the over 40 crowd who do (or used to) vote are coming to grips with that and while Dr. Paul may be a pleasant fantasy for all of us, come election day, we're either going to stay home, vote against someone (like Hillary), or waste our vote on the "flavor of the day"; in this case, Dr. Paul so we can "feel better".

We're tired of trying to change an entrenched bureaucracy and political quid-pro-quo that has existed since.....probably the early 20th century. Something happens to idealists who go to Washington: they become politicians. Then it's all about the next election and the election after that. Career politicians. The desire overtakes all of them sooner or later.

Every 20 or 30 years, the people get riled up and make a lot of noise, but nothing changes except the people we elect: they become Politicians bent on becoming Career Politicians. And every so often, someone dangerous shows up. This time its Hillary Clinton. Stopping her is my only agenda, because in the end, Rudy or Fred or John or the whole list of Presidential want-to-be's will be no different than their predecessors.

The status quo marches on and America continues it's slide from greatness to 2nd-world status. We can bluster and yell and demand change, but the handwriting is already on the wall. China will be the premier Superpower of the 22nd century and America will be a balkanized, politically correct, low income parody of itself.

The dollar is sliding towards worthless against the Euro and even the Canadian dollar, oil will be over $100 a barrel any day now, and we're not drilling for more because it would upset the caribou in Alaska.

So kids, don't waste your time. Excel in school. Get your Masters and your PhD. Work to be in the future elite because the middle class is already collapsing and that just leaves being poor. Or do all the preceding and learn Mandarin Chinese so you can be an immigrant looking for a better life.

Now is NOT the time for Ron Paul

Ron Paul has some great ideas and positions. He might even make a good President someday. But idea's and policies are NOT what the 2008 Presidential Election is all about.

The Republicans controlled Congress through most of the last 13 years and the Presidency for the last 7. And what did we conservatives get in return? Sex scandals, forced resignations, bloated budgets, a botched after-"victory" policy in Iraq, bankruptcy "reform" favoring businesses over the individual. We got pork, and lots of it. We got higher taxes with more on the way. In short, we got business as usual in Washington.

The 2008 Presidential Election is not about ideas or philosophies. It's about one thing and one thing only: making sure Hillary Clinton is not the next President of the United States.

Only a handful of Presidents have really made a difference in the recent past. FDR with socialized security and maneuvering the US into WWII as a way to end the depression. Nixon went to China, who if they play their cards right, will be the reigning economic and political superpower of the 22nd century. Ronald Reagan did defeat the Soviet Union and is a personal hero of mine, but his 1986 Amnesty Bill gave hope to millions of Mexicans who have since invaded America and have caused the immigration mess which will ultimately drag us down to 2nd world status.

Bill Clinton did do one thing I am eternally grateful for: he directed the military to stop purposely distorting the signals from the civilian GPS satellites. I have no sense of direction and an accurate car navigation system is essential to my well-being.

George W. Bush and Jimmy Carter I rank as the two worst Presidents of the 20th century. But for all the damage they did and bad policy they executed, America survived. If Hillary Clinton is elected President, we may not be so lucky.

This next Presidential election is all about NOT electing Hillary Clinton President. Period. Since Ron Paul is not capable of beating her head to head, he can only serve as a spoiler, talking votes away from the Republican candidate. And that elects Hillary President.

I still have great hopes for Obama. If he can get his campaign in sync, he has a chance of beating Hillary in the primaries. Texas has open primaries, and for the first time in my life, I'll be voting in the Democrat primary for Obama. If he's selected as the Democrat candidate, then frankly I don't care who wins the general election anymore so go ahead and push Ron Paul.

But my biggest nightmare is a Clinton/Obama Democrat ticket. That will be REAL tough to overcome and Ron Paul will only make it harder.

Lets talk about Ron Paul for a moment. I'm an evangelical Christian and I could support him. I agree with most of his views. But I'm from Texas and I never even HEARD of this guy before Digg and other similar outlets started publicizing him. He has NO national name recognition and as I said earlier, this is not an election about ideas: it's an election to beat Hillary. She's a household name, has more Teflon coating her than Ronald Reagan could ever dream of having, has a huge and successful political machine and the mainstream media behind her. We also have an American public that is sick of George Bush, sickened by Republicans, and is "looking for a change". It doesn't matter what the change is, it's change time.

When Bill Clinton's 2nd term expired, Hillary basically left Washington, bought a multi-million dollar house in NY (with questionable funding), said "I am a New Yorker", and ran for Senator. All the Clinton scandals and dirt were still fresh in everyones minds. She had no experience as an elected official and NY is a powerful state. She shouldn't have had a chance.

The Republicans put up Rick Lazio, a staunch conservative, very popular in his congressional district, and the darling of NY talk radio. He was a life-long New Yorker and should have mopped the floor with a blatant carpet-bagger like Hillary Clinton. But he had no name recognition in Northern New York and Hillary out-debated him. The rest is history. Yesterday's Rick Lazio is today's Ron Paul.

Fortunately (I can't believe I'm using that word), the Democrats control Congress and public support for Congress is at a low too. The Republicans could actually pick up a few seats there.
But when it comes to the Presidency, lets get real: unless one of them implodes, the Republican nominee is going to be either Rudy Giuliani or Mitt Romney. Romney is better on policy but is a Mormon. That doesn't bother me even though I consider Mormons to be cultists, not Christians, any more than it bothered me that Joe Lieberman was Jewish. Or that JFK was Catholic. This is politics, not religion. I do draw the line at Scientologists, but other than that, religion is not going to be a factor in who I vote for. Unfortunately, that may not be the case for the critical evangelical Christians the Republicans need to win. Rudy's position on abortion is not a big help there either.

The last thing we need is another excuse for Christian and conservative voters to "protest" by staying home and that's Ron Paul. Voting sometimes means holding your nose and choosing the lesser of two evils. I did that that when I voted for Bush 43 because Al Gore and his wacky environment policies would have meant $5.00/gallon gas and all kinds of other invasive, restrictive, and America-hurting policies.

Ron Paul has no chance of beating Hillary Clinton head to head. God forbid he decides to run as a third-party candidate and become another Ross Perot, syphoning off Republican votes. It's still early in the campaign so let him run as hard as he likes, as long as its against Hillary and not against the other Republican contenders. In the end, if he's any kind of factor, let him come out strongly for whomever the Republicans do select as their candidate and campaign hard for them and against Hillary. He'll live to fight another day.

One day, Ron Paul could be a viable Presidential candidate, but not this time. The goal for 2008 is to prevent Hillary Clinton, who is a clear and present danger to the nation, from becoming our next President.

At this point, I think Rudy is more electable than Mitt, even though I disagree with Rudy on a number of issues. And he needs to tone down the "9/11 hero" thing: everyone KNOWS all about that already and he doesn't need to rub it in America's face at every opportunity to profit from it....it could backfire. Rudy also did an AMAZING job in transforming NY City from a dirty, crime-ridden, dark, Batman-like Gotham City into the beautiful place it is today: I know, I lived 25 minutes away, and you just didn't visit NY, especially at night, under his predecessor's time in office. I know the liberal spin says otherwise, but Rudy really turned the city around.

And if Rudy does implode, or Mitt Romney looks to be the best bet for beating Hillary, I'll vote for him. Because, as I said at the start, this election is not about policy, ideas or any of that. This election is about one thing and one thing only: Electing ANYONE but Hillary Clinton President of the United States.

Mr Obama, Wake Up and Smell the Gunpowder!

I'm clinging to memories of Howard Dean, the last Democrat front-runner who imploded in the end to avoid nightmares over candidate Clinton. But Mr. Obama, your ill-run campaign and ill-advised handling of the Iraq War vote is reflecting in the polls and making it harder to hold the demons away in my sleep

Obama was my big hope: young, energetic and possessing an almost Kennedy-like charm. He's well-spoken, polite....an "acceptable" black American for Democrats who would love to have the first black President be from their party.

But the blush is starting to come off the rose. He alienated twenty million + American cigarette smokers when he instantly caved to criticism of his habit and quit (more likely, he's now a closet-smoker). His recent decision to remove and not wear the American Flag lapel pin to protest the war is extreme and a slap in the face of pretty much every (legal) American, especially Veterans. He is going way to far in highlighting his "no" vote against the war in Iraq. If he thought this was going to make Hillary look like a flip-flopper and hurt her campaign, he was and is wrong.

Let me let you in on a little secret, Mr. Obama: Hillary was right for supporting the war AT THAT TIME. So was George Bush and so was I and millions of other Americans.

Monday morning quarterbacking is easy: think back to that time. We were living in a post-9/11 world. A madman who had used chemical weapons on his own people was yelling at the top of his lungs to anyone who would listen that he was creating more...and now biological and nuclear weapons too. Imagine you're George Bush. You call the CIA: what's the intel? The CIA replies "uh, we don't have any except maybe some yellow-cake uranium sales and satellite photos that kind of look like mobile bio labs. But we just don't have any Muslim agents in Iraq (or pretty much at all).

Meanwhile, Saddam is getting more aggressive in pushing the no-fly zone limits and actually shooting at our aircraft. And all the while, he keeps yelling "I'm making weapons of mass destruction"! Pre-9/11 there may have been more time for intel gathering but post 9/11? Do you RISK America that Saddam may be telling the TRUTH? The answer for George Bush, Hillary Clinton, Me, and a lot of other people was a resounding NO, Don't Risk It!!!"

So we attacked Iraq, won, and couldn't find the WMD's. There are stories of long truck convoys to Syria in the weeks prior to the attack so who knows. Personally, I hope that's garbage: the thought of Syria with a huge stash of WMD's doesn't make me sleep any easier either.

George Bush and those who voted to support him were right to attack Iraq. But where George Bush completely and utterly failed was in the aftermath of the war.

Iraq is not Germany or Japan (who we occupied for many years after WWII). Take away the oil, and most Middle East nations are living in the 14th century. Clan, Tribe, Family Honor....all of these mean more than a created nation called "Iraq". What's Democracy? They have no understanding of the concept. They NEED a (hopefully benevolent) dictator. WE needed to install a later-day Douglas MacArthur to be Supreme Leader of Iraq......until they could be educated and weaned onto democracy. But with the Iraqi Army foolishly disbanded; with the Iraqi Sunni government bureaucracy foolishly dismissed, the country quickly fell into chaos. Shites and Sunnis who had lived side by side for years because Saddam told them to began killing each other and blowing up each other's mosques. They would blow up their own power plants and then complain to CNN that they had no electricity. George Bush won the war and then lost the "peace".

Like Hillary, I (God, it pains me to see those three words next to each other) supported the war and now want out. How we get out is where we differ (that feels better) with Hillary wanting to cut and run, leaving some "advisers" while I feel the only viable solution is to partition Iraq into Sunni, Shiite, and Kurd regions with a weak central government whose only real job is to ensure each regions shares equally in the oil revenues so they won't start killing each other over it.

But I'm not running for President, Mr. Obama: you are. And if you continue to disrespect the American flag and throw your "I voted against the war and you're a flip-flopper" at Hillary in a debate, she will mop the floor with you. Then she'll start comparing her experience in Government to yours (conveniently forgetting her husband was only the Governor of a back-water state), you'll start fumbling for words, and it's all over.

Remember, Hillary has been preparing her entire life for this chance to be President of the United States. You're just a guy who was in the right place at the right time.

I REALLY hope your campaign cleans up it's act and closes the gap between you and Hillary in the polls. My home state of Texas has open primaries and for the first time in my life, I'll be voting in the Democrat primary. If you're ahead of Hillary in the polls or the second place challenger, I'll be voting for you. Otherwise, I'll voting for whomever is. But in the primaries and in the general election, I'll tell you exactly who I'm voting for: ANYONE BUT HILLARY!!!!!!!!
