FINALLY: Neaju.com, the FIRST TRUE Citizen Journalism Site goes Live!

WELL, IT'S ABOUT TIME!

After having (and having friends who have had) their submissions to DIGG in particular "buried" by people with their own agenda, a site that lets citizen journalists post the NEWS without being edited, buried, deleted, or otherwise tampered with. After years of gritting my teeth as the "Mainstream" Media slants, distorts, amplifies or ignores news as they so choose, a News Site with NO editorial content control (unless the story is not factual). News generated by Citizen Journalists, not corporate editorial boards.
A new Neaju Citizen Journalist said it all when she emailed us: "CNN won't put our responses up to their newcasts. My husband and I are censored. You Tube has deleted video/accounts that have to do with Ron Paul, voter fraud and the coming one world government. Blogs like Red State have totally banned Paulites. It's only a matter of time before the RP Meetups are disbanded. Meanwhile, the media illegally censors candidates and does not give us all the info/news we need to choose our own president."
Citizen Journalism combats that kingmaker mentality by allowing anyone to post news....and what they post is what you see.

This site is real powerful too, allowing you to send video, pictures, and a story directly from your cell phone for real-time publication! Great for rallies, natural disasters, political campaign events, college events and crimes in progress. You can even have your own "News Channel" for people with common interests or organizations.

Oddly enough, citizen journalism in some other countries is far more developed than it is in the United States, despite the US having the longest standing freedom of speech provision. The concept has proven to be very powerful. For example, in South Korea, one of the oldest current citizen journalism projects on the Internet, OhmyNews, is widely considered to be the most influential factor in December 2002 presidential elections. So much so, that after being elected, Roh Moo Hyun granted his first interview to OhmyNews. The concept does work, and is very powerful – it just has to be used.

Launch of Neaju.com – First True Citizen Journalism Site
The Internet’s first pure real-time citizen journalism site is launched.

Austin, TX (February 7th, 2008): UGC Powered Media Inc. announced today that it has launched its beta version of the first citizen journalism site, Neaju.com, that allows individuals to become reporters and submit news reports on variety of topics in real-time if desired, all without editorial oversight.

“Neaju.com is the first site on the Internet that will allow any user to submit a news story to a world-wide audience without the editorial oversight that is often used to inject bias and spin into news reporting,” said Vadim Gorelik, Founder and CEO of UGC Powered Media, Inc. “Our fundamental belief is that freedom of speech should be applied to journalism first and foremost, in a manner that allows reporters, be they citizens or professionals, to report on any subject in the way they see it unfolding.”

Neaju.com provides its users with ability to submit their stories from their computer, or in real-time from their wireless phones, with video or photos, using its Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) or email capabilities. Once registered on the site, each user is provided with a unique email address that they can then use to wirelessly submit their stories from any location in the world, thereby adding the real-time component.

Further extending the site’s feature set, Neaju.com editors monitor the incoming news reports from citizen journalists and news reports from thousands of traditional media outlets. If citizen journalists and traditional media are found to report on the same news event, Neaju.com has the ability to combine all citizen journalist and traditional media reports under a single News Story title with the sole purpose of providing a complete and accurate understanding of a news event.

“The problem with traditional media news reports is that they are so full of fluff and spin, it is hard to discern what actually happened. The news story concept is a way for us to combine citizen journalism reports with reports by traditional media to give readers an ability to get a full, complete and accurate picture of what transpired and let the readers make up their own minds about it,” said Gorelik.

Rounding out phase 1 of Neaju.com’s unique features is the ability for any member of the site to create a News Channel, based on any common theme – such as location, topic or dedicated to a person. Upon creation of a Neaju News Channel, the channel creator has the ability to invite other citizen journalists to join the channel and expand its coverage.

“The News Channel concept is a powerful tool that we expect to utilize in a number of ways,” said Larry Waters, SVP of Business Development. “Obviously any Neaju user can create a news channel on the topic that interests them. Whether it is a few friends that want to report on a particular band they like, or a group of students that want to report about events on campus or around town, the potential for these citizen journalism news channels is enormous. But we also envision universities, organizations, and companies creating their own news channel and not only obtain direct access to their target audience, but also get community involvement in their news and information gathering efforts. ”

About Neaju.com: After years of design and development, Neaju.com is the first true citizen journalism site that allows users to submit their news reports in real time from anywhere in the world and without editorial oversight.

About UGC Powered Media: UGC Powered Media is the parent company of Neaju.com. Based in Austin, TX, UGC is dedicated to providing Netizens with the ability to create and distribute content to a world-wide audience.
